Broken laptop: moving your data to a new one
You have a new laptop, or you are about to get one. You want everything from the old one on it, without working it out yourself.
What you notice
- The old laptop has stopped working, but everything is still on it.
- You bought a new one and are dreading the transfer.
- You are not sure what was on the old one in the first place.
- Your mail, passwords and bookmarks need to come across too.
- There is a program on it you still need.
What we do about it
We move your files, photos, mail and bookmarks to the new machine. If the old laptop no longer runs, we take the storage out and read it separately.
We set the new one up so you can carry on straight away: mail working, printer connected, your programs installed.
You get the old laptop back, or we wipe it for you if you are disposing of it. That last part matters more than people think, because there is usually more on it than you realise.
