Slow computer
A computer that takes forever over everything costs you time every day. Often it is not age but something sitting in the way.
What you notice
- Starting up takes minutes instead of seconds.
- Since a Windows update it has been noticeably slower.
- It lags behind your clicks and typing.
- The fan runs hard while you are doing nothing heavy.
- Browsing is slow while your connection is fine on other devices.
What we do about it
We find out where the time goes. It is almost never one thing: usually there are programs running you never started, storage is too full, or an update went wrong.
We clear out what is not needed and put back what an update changed. Your own files and settings stay where they are.
If the machine is simply too old for what you ask of it, we say so. Then you know a clean-up is money wasted and you can decide for yourself.
Slow is nearly always fixable without buying a new one. Often it is one afternoon of difference.
