Computer will not start
Nothing is as unnerving as a machine that does nothing at all. Usually less is wrong than it looks.
What you notice
- The screen stays black while the fan does run.
- It hangs on the logo or a spinning circle.
- It restarts, over and over.
- A blue screen appears with a message on it.
- It started after an update or a power cut.
What we do about it
We work out whether it is the software or the machine itself. That difference decides everything: the first is usually quick, the second needs a decision.
Your files are secured first, before anything is repaired. That way a repair attempt can never cost you your photos or records.

Do not run recovery software first. On a drive that is failing, that lowers the chance of getting anything off it.
