Liquid spilled on your device
Something was spilled. What you do in the first minutes matters more than what we can do later.
What you notice
- Coffee, tea or water went over it.
- It still works, but you do not trust it.
- It will not switch on.
- Some keys stick or do not work.
- It worked, and then failed a day later.
What we do about it
Switch it off, unplug it and leave it off. Do not switch it on to see whether it still works: that is when the damage happens, because current runs through wet parts.
Do not put it in rice. It does not help and often makes things worse, by getting grains and dust into the openings. Standing it up so liquid can run out works better.
We open, dry and clean the machine and see what is damaged. With sugary drinks speed matters more, because those keep attacking components.
Do call straight away, including in the evening. With liquid, every hour counts.
