Mail has stopped working
Mail that will not arrive or will not send is unsettling, because you do not know what you are missing.
What you notice
- Nothing arrives while people are sending to you.
- Your messages sit in the outbox.
- You are asked for your password repeatedly although it is correct.
- It works on your phone but not on the computer.
- Outlook stopped working after an update.
What we do about it
Being asked repeatedly for your password usually does not mean it is wrong, but that settings changed or two-step verification is on and still needs setting up.
If it works on your phone, the problem is not your mailbox but the program on your computer. That narrows it considerably.
We also check for forwarding rules you did not create. That is rare, but it is the first thing we rule out.
