Setting up a modem or router
A new box from the provider, or one you bought yourself. Either has to be set up properly before things work as they should.
What you notice
- You received a new modem and since then various things have stopped.
- The Wi-Fi is still named whatever the provider called it.
- You do not know which devices are on your network.
- Guests ask for the password and you would rather not share it.
- You want to use your own router instead of the provider’s.
What we do about it
We set the network up the way you want it: your own name and password, and the devices that belong on it reconnected. Printer, TV and smart devices too, which people usually forget.
A separate guest network takes a moment. Visitors can then reach the internet but not your own devices, and you never have to hand out your real password again.
We show you which devices are connected. That is often a surprise, and occasionally there is something on it that does not belong.
