Mouse not working
The pointer does not move, jumps, or lags. That is rarely the mouse itself.
What you notice
- The pointer will not move at all.
- It jumps or stutters across the screen.
- Clicking works sometimes and not others.
- The laptop touchpad has stopped.
- It works on one computer but not another.
What we do about it
A stuttering wireless mouse is usually interference or a nearly flat battery, not wear. That is quick to establish.
A touchpad doing nothing has often been switched off accidentally with a key combination. It happens to everyone and it comes straight back.
If clicking is unreliable the switch is worn. On a separate mouse replacing costs less than repairing, and we will say so.
Before buying a new one: call. This is one of those things often solved in a single phone call.
